- Definition of Role
Ø Act as a support to the Compliance Director ensuring that the business and it’s AR’s operate in adherence with all relevant laws and regulatory requirements, industry standards, internal policies, developing and implementing compliance monitoring programs, conducting audits, training staff on compliance matters, staying up to date and acting proactively with changes to regulation/relevant law to mitigate risks and to act as complaints handler for the business.
Responsibilities
Ø To be able to work independently to conduct deep dive reviews of our Appointed Representatives and their business processes, in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, and provide feedback and development actions where required, including ongoing monitoring of progress.
Ø Directly supervise the Senior File Auditor, including appraisal delivery, and assist with file audit reviews where necessary.
Ø To conduct all Insurer requests for Fair Value Assessments and complete these with all data relevant to each Insurer as often as required.
Ø To complete the RMA-J FCA return and to assist the compliance director with all other RMAR returns when required.
Ø To sign off from a compliance perspective, marketing material and financial promotions.
Ø To handle any complaints escalated by general staff in accordance with DISP rules and cooperating with FOS if required.
Ø To assist the Board, Consumer Duty champion and Compliance Director with all Consumer Duty related work, including risk assessments, staff training, and reporting and collaborating with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to consumer protection.
Ø To utilise the reporting features in Acturis to pull out relevant data required to analyse business performance and monitor key metrics for any compliance related work.
Ø Assist the compliance director with the day-to-day delivery of the compliance plan and compliance activity log.
Ø Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the laws and regulatory requirements relevant to the firm, including regular horizon scanning and gap analysis where necessary.
Ø To review T&C throughout the business on a regular basis, complete detailed reports and provide feedback to the compliance director and Board of Directors.
Ø Develop and maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders.
Ø Assist the compliance director in reviewing and updating relevant registers including the breach log, gifts/inducements/hospitality, fraud risk register etc.
Ø To assist the compliance director with any subject access requests including information requests to third parties including HMRC etc when required.
Ø To regularly review and update the client TOBA and Privacy Notice for C&C and all AR’s and maintain a register of changes.
Ø Ongoing continuous professional development and maintenance of own training & development file.
Ø To comply with and ensure all staff throughout the business comply with COCON Rules.
Ø Cooperate and assist colleagues wherever possible with all compliance related queries as an expert technical referral point. This includes assisting other business’ that the Directors own with technical referrals and compliance support.
Ø Creating and delivering training material to relevant staff on compliance matters/regulation in an engaging and informative manner.
Ø Assist in the onboarding of new business relationships, such as Introducers.
Ø Assist in the reviews of Insurer TOBA’s with the ability to identify and terms that may not be suitable for C&C processes, particularly around CASS requirements.
Ø Assist in the reviews of wholesale client money requirements and ongoing monitoring required in connection with discharging C&C’s fiduciary duty.
Ø To review conduct risk throughout the business and assist the compliance director with conduct risk and TCF Audits.
Ø Regularly review contract certainty results throughout the business and provide information in a clear report.
Key Knowledge
Ø Acturis reporting experience essential.
Ø Detailed knowledge of the FCA’s AR Regime essential.
Ø Detailed knowledge of Product Governance and how all elements link to all business processes and the ability to continually review this.
Ø In depth knowledge of the Consumer Duty.
Ø RMAR reporting knowledge essential.
Ø In depth knowledge of SYSC, CASS, ICOBS, SUP, PERG, SMCR, IDD, GDPR and the Data Protection Act.
Ø In depth knowledge of financial crime monitoring and prevention, sanctions and Anti-Fraud measures.
Ø In depth knowledge of vulnerable customer requirements, TCF and Conduct risk.
Ø To be able to demonstrate a good knowledge and understanding of personal lines, SME and large commercial risk products.
Ø Knowledge of insurance principals and underlying legal principals.
Ø Knowledge of all C&C internal policies and procedures.
Experience Required
Ø Minimum of 7 years compliance experience
Ø Minimum of 3 years management experience
Ø Must have Acturis reporting experience
Ø Must have RMAR reporting experience
Ø Must have complaints handling experience
Ø Must have PROD and Consumer Duty experience – specifically in the integration and ongoing monitoring of the new regulations into business processes.

Ø Detailed Knowledge of Acturis essential – including the reporting functions
Ø Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
Professional Qualifications
Ø GCSE’s or equivalent English & Maths essential
Ø CERT CII or above desirable
Ø Relevant compliance qualification desirable
Additional Responsibilities
Ø Comply with any other reasonable request from the compliance director or Board of Directors
Ø Flexibility in working hours as sometimes necessary to attend external events
Ø Support the rest of the business when required
