This position is for a dedicated, enthusiastic, conscientious person, who is interested in protecting businesses.

Key aspects of the role are:

  1. Advising business leaders on how to manage risk;

  2. Providing solutions to help them deal with risk;

  3. Designing robust, value for money, corporate insurance portfolios, so that in the event of a disaster, a business has

    appropriate support and financial protection, to enable the organisation to recover and prosper;

  4. Managing corporate insurance portfolios.

The initial position available is as an Account Manager. Principally, you will be responsible for servicing corporate clients, which includes but is not limited to: taking instructions from clients; advising clients; negotiating insurance premiums and terms with underwriters; processing policy amendments; checking, producing and issuing documentation; and handling claims. The position will provide a platform for you to develop into a reliable insurance practitioner.

Subsequently, a Trainee Account Executive role will be offered to you, subject to:

  1. The Account Manager role being performed to a good standard;

  2. You being thorough, industrious, ethical and reliable;

  3. You qualifying by examination to become an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) www.cii.co.uk;

  4. You showing the skills and positive caring attitude required to succeed as an Account Executive in our business.

An Account Executive’s duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Visiting clients and prospective clients;

  2. Conducting site surveys/inspections;

  3. Assessing the risks to which companies are exposed;

  4. Providing advice to companies on how to deal with risk;

  5. Issuing reports on risks and insurance portfolios;

  6. Designing insurance portfolios;

  7. Producing risk presentations for submission to insurers;

  8. Negotiating with underwriters;

  9. Presenting reports to clients and prospective clients;

  10. Working with and training Account Managers.

You will need:

  1. A positive caring attitude: businesses will be dependent on you; that includes their reputation, their profits and their

    employees’ jobs.

  2. The following key skills:

    1. a)  Relationship building: an ability to develop valued relationships;

    2. b)  Organisation: you will have many tasks at the same time;

    3. c)  Prioritisation: to ensure key tasks are completed on time;

    4. d)  Analytical: there will be much data to obtain and study;

    5. e)  Presentation and communication: you will need to effectively convey key information;

    6. f)  Negotiation: to secure good results for your clients.

Your Account Executive training is likely to last for at least 2 years. However, you will never stop learning. Managing corporate risks is a vast ever-changing topic, and you will need to continue professional development during your career.

ACII Qualification

In relation to qualifying by examination to become an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) www.cii.co.uk: 1. We will pay for:

  1. a)  Membership of the Chartered Insurance Institute;

  2. b)  Study fees;

  3. c)  Examination entry fees;

Candidates

Candidates should have as a minimum:

  1. 1)  GCSE Mathematics grade 5 or B

  2. 2)  GCSE English Language grade 5 or B

  3. 3)  Five other GCSE’s grade 4 to 9 or C to A*

  4. 4)  Two A-levels grade C to A* or equivalent qualification

  5. 5)  2.1 degree or equivalent qualification, or forecast to achieve such a qualification, or alternatively at least 2 years

    insurance work experience.
