Overview of the Role
A top 25 UK insurance broker with offices in Birmingham, Tewkesbury, London and Liverpool and growing
This role will contribute to the development of our established Recruitment and Umbrella Portfolio of business. As a senior member of the team you will help to drive the business forward via new business acquisition and renewal retention. You will hold a delegated underwriting authority from our scheme Insurance partner and will also negotiate and place larger/more complex risks in the wider market. This is a dynamic role dealing with the underwriting of mid/larger clients and prospects, either on a Direct or Wholesale Broker basis.
Responsibilities- Reporting directly to Regional Director
- Assist in the delivery of the team’s Recruitment and Umbrella Portfolio Budget
- Responsible for sales, business retention, cross-sales to ensure client and prospects insurance needs are met
- Managing and developing relationships – direct and wholesale, to create a pipeline capable of meeting the teams financial objectives
- Act as a mentor in developing the more junior members of the team whilst driving forward their own knowledge and experience
- Network widely both within and outside the business to support the delivery of own and business objectives
- Ensure all regulatory and compliance requirements are met
- Demonstrable career history showing professional risks experience
- Ability to underwrite to strategy through risk identification, evaluation and solution provision
- Being innovative and solution driven in delivering for our customers and prospects.
- Demonstrate a “can do attitude” and be able to act on own initiative
- Demonstrate excellent negotiation and sales skills through face to face, virtual and electronic communications
- Understand the requirements of a scheme and portfolio Insurer in delivering a sustainable profitable account
- Excellent time management and ability to work to tight deadlines
- Insurance qualifications/working towards (which we would support) would be a positive

· Innovative in creating winning solutions
· Aware of all distribution solutions and be able to adopt the best channel to deliver client outcomes
· Technically strong and able to “face off” to client and insurer requirements
· A commercially minded individual with excellent negotiation skills
· Able to build relationships quickly with client/brokers/colleagues/prospects/insurers demonstrating great people skills
· Demonstrate resilience and ability to manage multiple stakeholders, with tenacity and attention to detail (including holding an underwriting license)
