- Description
- Experienced Claim Handler/Claims Manager Role
Due to the impending retirement of our long standing and valued Claims Manager, we are seeking an experienced Claims Handler/Claims Manager who will be responsible for dealing with all insurance claims generated by our client base, from first notification through to settlement.
Our client base comprises predominantly ‘owner managed’ businesses (operating in various sectors) and property owners (typically residential blocks but also landlord properties and portfolios and commercial properties and portfolios). We also have a small percentage of private clients.
The successful candidate will need to be able to handle their own case load and be self-sufficient in all their work. They will work independently but will sit amongst our friendly team of account handlers and will report directly to the directors in the business.
The role will include:
- Handling initial claim notifications from clients and reporting of claims to insurers in a timely manner
- Vetting claims information to check coverage position prior to submission to insurers to avoid any issues. If issues are discovered, reporting back to Directors/Account Executives in a timely manner.
- Providing a high standard of communications between all parties and operate to agreed deadlines and timeframes
- Coordinating claims between loss clients/adjusters/solicitors/insurers
- Building/maintaining relationships with clients/adjusters/solicitors/insurers
- Prioritising emails/correspondence and checking of timescales/deadlines that need to be met
- Notifying clients of claims which are reported directly by third parties
- Challenging insurer decisions on liability and quantum where appropriate
- Regular monitoring of and assistance with claims until settlement
- Keeping claim files up to date and accurate
- Providing regular updates to clients throughout the life of a claim
- Regular creation and updating of claim reports for SME and corporate clients and property owners clients.
- Accompanying directors and account executives to client meetings as and when required, to present claim reports and answer claim related queries as and when required.
- Ensuring claims are resolved, paid and closed within reasonable timescales
Types of claims handled will include:
- Property damage claims (mostly buildings insurance claims)
- Business interruption claims
- Public and employers liability claims
- Motor Claims (including motor trade)
- Financial lines claims (Professional indemnity, D&O, cyber and crime claims)
- Low volume of miscellaneous claims e.g. marine cargo, home insurance, travel etc
Required attributes
The ideal candidate must be personable, helpful, competent, efficient and above all sympathetic with claimants.
Role Availability
The role is immediately available as we would prefer a transition period to take place whilst our existing Claims Manager remains in employment.
The business is still very much in “growth mode” and now handles GWP (Gross Written Premiums) in excess of £10m per annum.
Our team is still relatively small (11 people) and the hierarchical structure remains “flat” meaning that the candidate will be working closely with the team including the owner/directors on a day to day basis.
The successful candidate can work from Manchester or Worsley as well as from home
