Our clients, Insurance Brokers and Insurers, are still crying out for experienced  Commercial Insurance candidates.  In fact, Candidates with over five years commercial experience are aware they can, to some extent, dictate their own packages and flexibility.

Due to this shortage however, we are finding that opportunities are opening up for Graduates and candidates who want to cross train, especially if they are looking to move on from personal lines and claims into Commercial Insurances.

Candidates who have a 2:1 Degree or candidates who have 6 months general insurance experience, would be interested in the career opportunities that are emerging in 2024

NSURANCE AND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES 2024
The shortage of experienced GI candidates has resulted in the Insurance Industry looking at opportunities to train and cross train candidates more. At the end of last year, we had more Graduate Trainee roles than ever before as well as brokers hiring Personal Lines and Claims staff, to train up within Commercial SME and Corporate Insurances. A career within the Insurance Industry is probably one of the safest as people will always need protection from risks, no matter the state of the economy.

Employment with an insurer or broker, provides more job security than a lot of career fields. That safety net means employees can pay off student loans and build a nest egg sooner than their peers. The Insurance Industry, because of the technology today, is much more advanced, and you can really work from any location because a lot of the appointments are virtual. The application processing is digital. So, flexibility and the opportunity to have residual income for the rest of your career.

The need to fill positions with fresh minds in all areas of insurance in the coming year, offers unique prospects not seen in other industries. Insurers and Brokers understand the draw of a modern work environment, career development, competitive compensation and work-life balance. The clear path for career advancement is enticing for anyone looking for a new field or entering the workforce, and employees can work in departments that match their interests, such as broking, claims, compliance, loss adjusting, marketing, customer service and underwriting.

Depending on the role, people can start a career in insurance quickly, especially if they are willing to study for their CII exams. The coming year will see new employment prospects in all areas of insurance and risk management. Now is an excellent time to enter or move up in an industry preparing to expand

1. Carefully examine the job description.

It would help if you used the employer's posted job description as a guide during your prep work. The job description lists the qualifications, qualities and background the employer is looking for in an ideal candidate. The more you can align yourself with these details, the more the employer will be able to see that you are qualified. The job description may also give you ideas about the employer's questions throughout the interview.

2. Consider why you want the job

Before your interview, you should understand why you want the job and why you feel you are qualified for it. It would help if you were prepared to explain your interest in the opportunity and why you're the best person for the role.

3. Research both the company and the role

Researching the company you are applying to is essential. Not only will it help provide context for your interview conversations, but it will also help you prepare thoughtful questions for your interviewers. Researching the company and role as much as possible is important and also preparing for an interview will assist you in feeling more assured during the interview.

4. Consider your answers to common interview questions

While you won't be able to predict every question you'll be asked in an interview; there are a few common questions you can plan answers for i.e. your salary, what you know about the company, why you want to work for them and of course why you feel you are right for the job.

Yvonne was great and very personable throughout the whole process and has been in contact to check how things are going on several occasions since I started my role.

I wasn’t particularly looking for a move, however Yvonne contacted me and explained both the role and the company in great detail as she thought both were perfect for me and I am so grateful she did this.

I couldn’t thank Yvonne more and I highly recommend having a chat if you are looking for a new opportunity.

I engaged with Yvonne on my recent endeavour to secure work having made the decision to return to a career after studying. All I can say is I owe Yvonne a huge debt, after discussing in detail me, my experience and history Yvonne helped me by securing me an interview with an opportunity I couldn’t have imagined. My recruiter commented on how Yvonne had portrayed me beyond written words after their initial review of my CV and as such gave me the opportunity. I was offered the position this morning and am thoroughly excited to commence my role. I cannot recommend Yvonne enough for her professionalism, communication with both me and my prospective now confirmed employer and how easy for me, the process was made by her efforts. Thank you!
Quite apart from a deep understanding of the Insurance and Financial sectors in Manchester beyond, Yvonne has an instinctive understanding of people, their abilities and qualities and a deep commitment to the leg-work necessary to match candidates to vacancies; a commitment to hard work and customer service.
